7 Reasons To Start Mindful Tracing This Year
When I first had the idea for Mindful Tracing, my initial response was; “Don’t be silly, Bev. It’s childish, lame and no one would ever be interested.”
Unfortunately, I listened to that thought for way too long.
I’d get a hit of excitement whenever I thought about it but then quickly the negative thoughts came swooping in.
Finally, I realised (I’m a slow learner in some areas) that just because I have a thought, doesn’t mean I need to believe it - or even entertain it for that matter.
So, I started experimenting.
When I felt myself falling into that dark hole of fear, anxiety, overwhelm or sadness, I grabbed a tracing page (when I could) and started tracing.
What I quickly noticed was that as soon as I put pen to paper, my brain started to power down.
It was incredible. And the longer I traced, the more I noticed that my negative thoughts would still come and go - however they had nowhere near the impact that they previously had.
I also felt my anxiety and overwhelm ease and I even noticed I had a smile on my face.

Tracing is a great way to practice mindfulness.
Tracing is amazing for stress relief and overwhelm.
It helps you to become aware of your thoughts and feelings.
If you can’t draw, start tracing to build muscle memory.
It can also boost your confidence, as you see your skills improve.
It soothes the nervous system.
It’s fun.
